TRINITYRAIL SRC®
Sustainable Railcar Conversion
Responsibly extending the life of
every railcar.
WHAT IS SUSTAINABLE RAILCAR CONVERSION?
Railcars have a longer lifespan than over-the-road freight vehicles, but their utility has been extended further through TrinityRail SRC®.
SRC, or Sustainable Railcar Conversion, is an environmentally conscious process that repurposes and reuses railcar materials and components in the manufacturing process of new railcars.
Through this program, we decrease energy consumption, preserve resources, and are more responsive to increased product demands.
So far, TrinityRail SRC has reused over 79 million pounds of raw materials.
INNOVATION THAT’S DRIVING SUSTAINABILITY
GETTING MORE OUT
OF RAW MATERIALS
From repurposing metal to reusing unique component parts, TrinityRail SRC makes it possible to do more while using less.
As awareness of freight rail’s differentiators increases alongside product purchasing, sustainable manufacturing practices are no longer just the right thing to do for the environment — they’re the most efficient way to address demand.
REDUCING INDUSTRY-WIDE WASTE
Disassembled steel components are recycled with minimal freight footprint. Remaining components such as brakes, trucks, and wheels can be reconditioned and reused. Over the entire industry’s inventory of railcars to be retired, that makes a monumental difference.
Rail shipping is already more cost-effective and eco-friendly than other forms of freight transportation, but TrinityRail SRC takes it over the top.
TRINITYRAIL IS
DELIVERING
A MORE
SUSTAINABLE FUTURE
TrinityRail SRC is just one component of TrinityRail’s comprehensive efforts to make rail more sustainable and more competitive. From manufacturing processes to tech-driven solutions, see how TrinityRail is preparing for the future of freight rail and setting an industry standard for sustainability.
